How Personalisation Works
Make their gift completely unique with a name or special message, personalised by our team at the Becky & Lolo workshop in Surrey.
Every product is slightly different, so the personalisation method, number of characters and number of lines available may vary. You will always see the options available for your chosen product before adding it to your basket.
How it works
1. Choose your product
Browse our collections and choose the item you would like to personalise. Products that can be personalised will display a Personalise button.
On the product page, select Yes please when asked whether you would like to add personalisation.
2. Enter your personalisation
Type the name or message exactly as you would like it to appear. Depending on the product, you may also be able to choose a font.
Please check the spelling, capital letters and punctuation carefully. We use the wording entered when your order is placed.
3. Check your preview
Where available, a preview will show how your wording and chosen font may look on the product. This is designed to help you check your choices before ordering.
As every item is personalised individually, the final size and position may vary slightly from the on-screen preview.
4. We personalise it in Surrey
Your order is sent to our workshop in Surrey, where our team adds your chosen personalisation using engraving, embroidery or vinyl lettering.
Once finished, your item is carefully checked, packed and prepared for delivery.
Our personalisation methods
Engraved plaques
Used for: Jewellery boxes, music boxes, keepsake boxes and other products featuring a personalisation plaque.
Your chosen name or message is engraved onto a plaque before it is carefully attached to the product.
Why do plaque character and line limits vary?
Our plaques come in different shapes and sizes to suit each product. Some are wider, while others are smaller or more decorative.
Each plaque therefore has its own maximum number of characters and lines. These limits keep the engraving clear, balanced and easy to read. A short name may fit on one line, while a longer message may be arranged across two or more lines where the plaque allows it.
The options shown on each product page are set specifically for that product and its plaque.
Embroidery
Used for: Backpacks, sports bags, holdalls and our other personalisable fabric bags, excluding lunch bags.
Your chosen name is stitched directly onto the bag using embroidery thread. This creates a durable, textured finish that becomes part of the product rather than sitting on top of it.
Why are bag character limits different?
The available space depends on the size, shape and design of the bag. The name must fit neatly within the embroidery area without covering important parts of the design.
Most embroidered bags are designed for one name on a single line. Longer names may appear slightly smaller so they fit neatly. The exact character limit is displayed on the product page.
Vinyl lettering
Used for: Lunch bags.
Our lunch bags are personalised using carefully applied vinyl lettering. Vinyl creates a clean, clear finish and works well with the materials and designs used across our lunch bag collection.
The available character limit depends on the space provided by the lunch bag design. Longer names may be made slightly smaller so the personalisation fits neatly.
Why do the options differ between products?
Not every product has the same amount of personalisation space. A jewellery box plaque may allow several lines of text, while a backpack may only have space for one embroidered name.
On each product page, we show the options available for that exact item, including:
- The maximum number of characters
- The number of lines available
- The personalisation method
- Any available font choices
- A preview for engraved products, where available
Before placing your order
Please check your personalisation carefully before completing your purchase. Make sure the spelling, capital letters, punctuation and selected font are correct and that your wording fits within the stated character limit.
We copy the wording provided when your order is placed, so any mistakes entered during ordering may also appear on the finished product.

Every personalised Becky & Lolo product is completed by our team at our workshop in Surrey. From engraving plaques to stitching names onto backpacks and applying vinyl lettering to lunch bags, each item is individually finished and checked before being sent to its new home.
